Image editing is becoming more and more popular. Maybe it's because a photo that was taken with a low performance digital camera isn't good enough or just because one wishes to add a personal touch to a photograph, making it stand up above the crowd. Either way, you need an image editing software. You could use Paint, the software included in Windows, but you will soon realize that it lacks a lot of options and that it has very limited image possibilities. Alternatively, you could use Photofiltre Studio X. It's basically a photo editing program that does much more than Paint does, it can apply a large number of filters and effects to photos. It can also correct photos, for example, by auto adjusting the brightness and the contrast level.

The installation is a point and click process and completes in a flash without much intervention from the user. Compared to other similar programs, Photofiltre Studio X can successfully run on older configurations and it also takes up little hard disk space.

The interface seems a bit crowded at first, especially for a beginner, because it features a lot of buttons for completing certain tasks, but reading the program manual will soon clarify this. The user can create a picture from scratch, using the numerous drawing tools or he can import a desired image and modify it, applying different effects and filters to it. Every filter has a preview button, for helping the user make an idea about what it does to the image.

Images shot in low light conditions or using low-performance digital cameras can be easily corrected using Photofiltre Studio X. It features settings for automatically adjusting the brightness and the contrast of a photo and it also includes a noise filter, for removing unwanted artifacts from a picture.

The number of graphical formats supported by Photofiltre Studio X is quite impressive and it exceeds by far the formats supported by other similar software. The user can also preview an image and see some details about it, like the resolution and the size, before importing it in the program. He can also import a scanned photo directly.

Another feature of Photofiltre Studio X is the possibility to modify multiple photos at once, allowing the user to change their resolution or to apply various effects to all the photos from a folder at the same time.

Pros

It supports a wide range of graphical formats and it can also import images directly from the scanner. It can also auto correct photos. Besides that, it features a huge list of filters and effects that can be added to a picture, each one having a preview button for quickly observing the changes.

Cons

The interface seems a little bit crowded and may be confusing for a beginner. Photofiltre Studio X is a great software for editing any type of image, making it more beautiful.
